Book Review

Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.
Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.
In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything. This is what Beautiful Creatures is about and I found myself instantly drawn to this book by Kami Garcia, this had has never happen to me with any other book. And I was shoked when I start reading the book, it bored me at first.
Beautiful Creatures takes place in Gatlin, the most boring and unique town I had ever heard of. Once I got more into the book, I realized that is one of  a kind book.
Along the book Ethan finds himself fallen in Love with Lena, a girl who no one talk to, and someone who to everyone's eyes was a witch, but to Ethan she was a beautiful creature, and one of a kind. Even thought he did not know that there was a dark secret hidden in Lena's family, that not even Lena knew about.

Current Connection 2: Youth Who Shot Classmate Felt He'd Been Bullied

In a recent article published by CNN, and reported by Michael Martinez on January 10, 2013, CNN inform that a 16-year old student blasted a California High School classroom with a shotgun Thursday was targetting two classmates because he felt he'd been bullied, the local sheriff informed Thursday night. Michael Martinez and CNN main idea is to informed how bad the school shootings continue to happen, and that we all have to find a way to stop this.

One student was hit and was in critical but stable condition. Thursday night, and the shooter was in custody after a teacher and the school's campus supervisor talked him into putting his gun down. In additiion to the wounded student, who was being treated in a Bakersfield hospital, two older students, both girls, suffered injuries in the confusion of the terrible accident.

The shooter did not only shot the person he thought that was bullying him, but in his madness, he also shot people who were innocent of everything. Including the boy who was supposley bullying him, in my opinion his also innocent, because being bullied by someone does not mean that you have to killed that person, to take revenge. You have to talk to that person, or a counselor in tell them what's happening and how you can out a stop to it.

One girl apparently close to the shotgun blast was taken to a hospital with hearing damage, authorities said. The second girl received minor injuries trying to flee, authorities said.

This shooting's had been happening all over the United States, and we must do something to stop them. They had already taken away to many innocent lives. Like the recent shooting where a guy killed alot of children in a kindergarner.

The gunman fired directly at one student, who was hit, then as student's rushed to flee, the gunman fired again, youngblood said. The teacher suffered a pellet wound to the head form one of the shot's fired earlier, authorities said.

Many innocent kids have died because of this shootings, innocents who had dreams, and futures. And everything was taken away from them without a reason.

Current Connection 1: Three years later, no sign of missing family.

In a recent article published by Gabriel Falcon, in CNN, Gabriel informs about the McStay family, who have being missing for three years know and there's no sign of them.
Next week marks the third anniversary of the disappearance of Joseph McStay, 43; his wife, Summer, 46; and their two young children, Gianni, 7, and Joseph Mateo, who would be 6 this month.
February 4, 2010 was the last day anyone saw the family or heard from them. Police then entered their house more than 10 days later, and found eggs on the kitchen counter and bowls of popcorn in their living room.Only their dogs where found.
The family's locked and abandoned Isuzu Trooper was located February 8, 2010, in San Ysidro, just two blocks from the border. Surveillance video taken that night shows a family fitting the description of the MsStays walking into Mexico. From their clothing it looked like they were trying to cross the border.
The Southern California had been working with the Mexican authorities since this family went missing, and they had been since 2010, pouring over security videos, hoping to find some clues.
This same thing has happen with alot of people who had gone to Mexico, or had crossed the border, and they never come back. Some of them are later found death, or are trapped by the Drug dealers in Mexico. They tried to make them work with them, and whenever they dont want too, they killed them.

American Dream By Daniela Campos

Everyone in this world has a dream, not all of them are the same. Some people not only have one dream, but they had many dreams. I also have a dream. My dream is that one day all the immigrants around the world get to have all the same rights as the American citizens do, and that they are treated the same way that everybody else with those rights are treated. Many people have this dream, are a dream similar to it. Like many people out there, I want to have the freedom to go back to Mexico and visit my loved one's, without the fear of not being able to crossed the border again. Without the fear that on my way something bad may happen to me or to my family. Many people have died when in hope of having a better life they decided to cross the border, knowing that in doing this, they are risking their life.

This should never happen. All of us should be able to come and go freely, like all the U.S citizens do. They are free to go anywhere they want without feared of anything, and to God eyes, we know that he does not approve of this, beacuse we are all his sons and daughters. It does not matter what race you belong to, what your beliefs are, or what reigion to belong to. Your race or your religion defines who you are, that's true, but we all have dreams and we all have aspirations. We all one a better future for our family and our children. If we all were created the same, why dont't we all have the same rights?

Not having the same rights is the cause of why many immigrants when they finished high school, they cannot go to college, because they are not citizens of the U.S. and they don't have a social security number. Things as insignificant as being able to get a phone with a plan, cannot be done by immigrants all because they dont have a social number. This is not only unfair, this is extremely racist. I myself had wanted many things since I got here, and I have never being able to have any of those things. Why? because I'm not consider a citizen, I'm consider and alien, that the only thing I want is to be able to be free and achieve my dreams without fearing anything.

The most important problem that this issue has caused, has been the deportations of immigrants. There are people that had have babys here in the U.S. , and they immediately become citizens, but since their parents are not citizens they are deported. And the children are left here without no one to take care of them. Sometimes after a short period of time they reunite again, but sometimes it takes years, and sometimes they never get to see them again. Also many immigrants in their way of coming here are capture by drug cartels, and if they don't want to work for them, their are killed. Some girls are raped, and some are sold to people, but worst is that some of them are just left there by themselves to die.

Everyone should take concern for this, and we all should do something to stop this situation. For once we should all unite and help each other. This country is the best, that's true, there's no doubt about that, but if would be such a better one if we could all help. My dream is for all immigrants to have the same rights as all U.S. citizens do. And they only way they can do this is by getting their social security number, and being able to applied for it.

Breaking Dawn

Picture this: world where you had been through the most painful things anyone could ever imagined, and when your finally happy, there are people who still want to destroy you? Stephanie Meyer's , Breaking Dawn really make me realize that when you truly love someone you can overcome anything.
One possible theme for this book would be that, when two people truly love each other, they can overcome anything that might get in their way, so that they can finally be happy forever. When Bella finally gets married with her soulmate, and the inmaginable happens, the fact that she becomes pregnant from a vampire. She never imagined that the Volturi would come back, to take away her most precious gift, and destroy her family.
Meyer's writing style draws the reader into this world full of love and hope, with such vivid descriptions, and true love forever,it make me feel like I myself was living Bella's world. One can hardly turned a page without realizing that Edward's and Bella's love gets stronger and stronger.
The setting for the novel takes place in Forks, Washington, were werewolfs and vampires have to leave all their differences aside and protect Bella and her daughter Renesmee. Bella really shows her love and stong spirit toward her soulmate and her daughter.
This novel reminds me of the whole Twilight Saga, a saga that really demostrates what true love really is. What true love can overcome. This books are really powerful. They really get to your heart.
I really would recommend this books to all the people that believe and true love and in fairytales.

The Battle of Jericho

Picture this a world where you will even give your life to be in the Warriors of Distinction, the oldest and most exclusive club in school. Sharon M. Draper intrigued me with the fact that whenever people really want something they will probably give their own life for it if necessary.
One possible theme for this book remains that your biggest dream can cost something really precious. Jericho the main character in the novel, has always wanted to become part of the Warriors of Distinction, the oldest and most exclusive club in his school. He wants this mainly because just being a pledge wins him the attention of Arielle, one of the hottest girls in his class, whom he's been too shy even to talk to before now.
Draper's writing style draws the reader into this world full of grieve and pain, with her vivid descriptions, and her word choice assists in moving the plot along quickly. For instance, one can hardly turn a page without a conversation turning into sadness, which keeps the characters voices very sad. This story is first person point of view, though allowing the reader to also experienced it like first person point of view.
The setting for the novel, takes place in Los Angeles, California. In a time where everyone wanted to become part of the Warriors of Distinction. Everyone beliefs that this group, those only do good things for the school, and that it makes the student's tough and strong and proud of thereselves.
This novels reminds me of November Blues, were November wanted to do anything and everything just so that she could feel acepted in school. November the main character of this book and Jericho, both want to do everything to achieve their dreams.
I would recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys sad stories. It you enjoy November Blues, you will definitely enjoy The Battle of Jericho, by the same author.

A tax we could learn to love

In a recent article by David Frum titled " A tax we coul learn to love", propopes a brand new carbon tax that would raise more revenue than ending Bush tax cuts for high incomes, would allow for middle-class tax relief and would help in the battle against climate change.
The earth continues to warm, and to warm fast with serious consequences for human life and welfare. 2012 saw the worst drought in the United States in half a century. Russia suffered its second bad drought in three years. Climate shocks to these two countries are raising food prices worlwife, posing an especially acute threat to the world's poorest. Major storm events strike harder and more of ten, because warming oceans create condisions for fiercer hurricanes.
I believe that David Frum new tax is the best tax that anyone has ever proposed. People all over the world are saying that the world will end this December. I believe that it wont, but what's happening to the atmosphere is terribly affecting the world.  The warmer and warmer climate has brought down many crops plantations and the hurricanes had killed alot of people. Also the hurricanes had destroyed many people's houses, and because of that they are homeless and without work.
Emissions continue to grow so rapidly that an international goal of limiting the ultimate warming of the planet to 3.6 degrees, established three years ago, is on the verge of becoming unattainable. Common emissions in the United States have been declined since 2009, not emissions per person ( those have been declining for decades), but emissions in absolute terms. The weak enconomy explains part of the decline, but the real hew of the story is the natural gas  fraking resolution.
The global warming has been affecting people for decades, but know it has gotten even worst. And the cause of this is the natural gas fraking revolution. Stubborning high unemployment and fiscal crisis have been  the topic all over the world. Even this is affecting the nature and the animals. Forest are burning and animals are starving.
This nuclear warming is not only getting worst in Hong Kong, were there has been a drumbeat of gloom. This is happening all over the world. In some places, like in Vriginia, more than one forest has burned terribly bad. And in most places like Florida, birds are dying of starvartion.
